In this age of bottled drinks, plastic milk jugs, and coffee-making machines, a pitcher—the intermediary for the delivery of liquids— might seem obsolete. It has become a shape for hospitality or a way to make everyday serving acts special. A pitcher is a family pot, a party pot. It can be a squat and humble perfection in constant use or an imposing and elegant presentation for a public occasion.
